Welcome to the land of a thousand mountains and valleys!

In the middle of the Hochsauerland low mountain range you will find the guesthouse Waldhof Hochsauerland. The Waldhof is located in the former county of Düdinghausen, a picturesque mountain village in the so-called "Tuscany of the Sauerland" because of the many hours of sunshine. Waldhof Hochsauerland is the ideal base for exploring the Sauerland in both summer and winter.

With the tourist destinations of Willingen, Winterberg and Korbach just around the corner, there is something for everyone. Are you enthusiastic about hiking? There are numerous hiking trails from Düdinghausen, including the Geological Circular Walk and the famous Rothaarsteig. Take a well-earned break in one of the many mountain huts or relax in a 'Seelenorte' - special resting places in quarries, churches or on mountain peaks, of which there are 43 in the area.

Do you prefer to stand on the pedals? Waldhof Hochsauerland is located in the middle of the Bike Arena Sauerland – the absolute region for every cycling enthusiast. Are you a mountain biker, racing cyclist or gravel specialist? The region offers 1,700 kilometers of routes with more than 34,000 meters of altitude. Can you stay on the Hirschberger Wand (slope of 19.3%)? The warm-up can be done right outside: the Waldhof is located on the infamous 'muur van Düdinghausen' : one kilometer of climbing, average 10 percent.

All these altitude meters can also be conquered on skis. Waldhof Hochsauerland is located in the middle of the closest winter sports area from the Netherlands. The area offers more than 60 kilometers of slopes!

Shopping can be exhausting in historical towns like Frankenberg, Schmallenberg or Korbach. Want to learn more about the family of Oranje-Nassau ? Then visit Schloss Arolsen – the birthplace of Regent Emma of Waldeck-Pyrmont or Dillenburg, the birthplace of William of Orange.

At Waldhof Hochsauerland you can choose from modernized hotel rooms and apartments. With the exception of the single room, all equipped with a kitchen. Make use of the bread roll service or come and have a nice breakfast in the breakfast room where the smell of fresh bread rolls and the warmth of the fireplace will greet you.

Who am I?

I am Chantal, married to Martijn and since May 2024 mother of our beautiful daughter Tamar. From Leiden, where I worked in the prison system as a social worker, we moved to the eastern neighbors in the summer of 2024 where we took over a former Gasthof. Step by step we are renovating the building and after an initial period of renovation it is now time to partially open! I look forward to offering you a wonderful stay at Waldhof Hochsauerland. In addition to taking care of this, I am still busy renovating other rooms in the guesthouse and I can often be found in the beautiful surroundings for a walk or a round on the racing bike.
